At the European University of Lefke, cultural celebrations are an important part of campus life. Every year, EUL gives international students the chance and support to honor their national Independence Days. These events bring together history, food, music, and traditions, turning the campus into a place of connection and cultural exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On December 16th, EUL lit up with the colors and spirit of Kazakhstan as Kazakh students celebrated their Independence Day. Thanks to the university\u2019s support, the event became not only a cultural showcase, but also a warm reminder of home for many students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the days before the celebration, Kazakh students prepared traditional dances, chose costumes, created a historical presentation, and rehearsed songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cOur independence is more than a date,\u201d said Ayaulym, a third-year student. \u201cCelebrating it here makes us feel united and proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The evening featured energetic dances, emotional national songs, and lively quizzes about Kazakhstan\u2019s history and symbols. Students from many countries \u2014 including Nigeria, Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe \u2014 joined in, learning new facts and enjoying the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cI didn\u2019t know much about Kazakhstan before,\u201d shared Furkan from Turkey. \u201cBut everything was explained so warmly that now I actually want to visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
No celebration would be complete without Baursak. The warm, golden pastries filled the room with their familiar aroma as guests eagerly tried them for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the end of the night, the event felt more like a family gathering than a performance \u2014 full of pride, nostalgia, and joy. It showed once again that at EUL, cultural exchange is about understanding and connection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cAs organizers, we felt at home,\u201d one student said. \u201cWe\u2019re all from different places, but here we learn from each other. That\u2019s what makes EUL special.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
