Students at the European University of Lefke turned EUL Plaza into a global meeting point on October 7, 2025, as the campus hosted its lively Student Societies & Karaoke Night. What began as a daytime cooking marathon ended as a colorful celebration of culture, food, and music shared among students from more than ten countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the day, each student society prepared dishes that represented the flavors of their home nations. Countries including Turkey, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Eswatini, Zambia, Zimbabwe, China, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, and Mozambique (just to name a few)  participated, filling the plaza with a mix of aromas that drew crowds before the event even began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eswatini society served a combination of fat cakes, spinach, fried rice, and chakalaka \u2014 a menu that quickly became a favorite stop for many students exploring foods they\u2019d never tasted before. For some, the best part of the night was the discovery of new flavors. \u201cI really enjoyed the food from Zambia. It was so yummy!\u201d said Michelle, a student from Eswatini, as she sampled dishes across the plaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As students tasted their way through the different tables, judges selected one country to win the informal food competition. Kazakhstan claimed the top spot, earning applause from the crowd for their popular dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as the last plates were cleared, the atmosphere shifted from a food festival to a music-filled gathering. Karaoke Night kicked off with students from various backgrounds taking the stage. The highlight of the night came when a group of Nigerian students performed Davido\u2019s hit song \u201cIf,\u201d turning the plaza into a full-on sing-along. Students danced, shouted the lyrics, and cheered until the final chorus faded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event wrapped up with smiles, laughter, and a sense of connection that stretched across cultures. Student Societies & Karaoke Night once again proved to be one of the most unifying events at EUL \u2014 a place where food, music, and diversity come together in the best way possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
