“Happy Saturday” Brings Energy, Laughter, and Community Spirit to EUL Campus

On Saturday, December 14, the European University of Lefke (EUL) campus came alive with excitement during its much-anticipated “Happy Saturday” event, which brought students together for a full day of entertainment, sports, and social activities.

The day began with a movie screening at the university’s cinema hall, where students relaxed and enjoyed the film in a friendly atmosphere. “It was the perfect way to start the day with friends,” said Ayşe K., a second-year student, adding that the cinema was “full of laughter and good vibes.”

As the event moved to EUL Plaza, the energy noticeably increased. A chess tournament drew focused competitors and curious onlookers, while live music performances created a lively background for students socializing across the plaza. Nearby, the badminton challenge attracted enthusiastic participants. “Badminton was my favourite part,” shared Mehmet A., smiling. “Even students who don’t usually play sports joined in just for fun.”

Students were also treated to a free buffet, enjoying food and drinks while chatting and relaxing between activities. In the afternoon, sports tournaments including volleyball and tennis took place at the university’s sports fields, where cheering crowds supported their friends and teams.

One of the most joyful moments came with the appearance of Muffi, EUL’s mascot, who quickly became the centre of attention. Students lined up to take photos, laugh, and interact with the mascot, adding a playful and memorable touch to the event.

The day concluded with a DJ performance and party, where students danced and celebrated together. “It felt like everyone was connected,” said Elif S., “Events like this remind us why campus life is so special.”

Overall, Happy Saturday successfully united the EUL community, leaving students with lasting memories and a renewed sense of campus spirit.
