Rising living costs in the Lefke region have pushed many European University of Lefke students to
seek part-time employment in order to manage daily expenses. Students report that accommodation, food, and transportation costs have increased steadily over the past year.
For international students in particular, currency fluctuations and delayed financial support from home have intensified the pressure. As a result, more students are balancing academic responsibilities with evening or weekend jobs. “I had to start working part-time just to cover transport and food,” said a third-year student. “It helps financially, but it becomes stressful during exam periods.”
The situation reflects a wider economic reality affecting student communities globally. As living costs continue to rise, students are increasingly required to develop financial coping strategies alongside their academic commitments
