Transportation has become a growing concern for students at the European University of Lefke as bus fares increase and capacity limitations affect daily commuting. Students using local transport services such as Akva and Çimen buses report recent fare increases from 50 Turkish Lira to 70 Turkish Lira.
For students who rely on these buses daily, the price change has significantly increased monthly transportation expenses. In addition, many students say they struggle to secure seats on the free university shuttle buses. “Sometimes you miss the bus not because you are late, but because it is already full,” said Nyasha M .
University officials have acknowledged the issue and stated that transportation capacity and scheduling are under review , increasing the number of shuttle buses and introducing fixed student transport rates. Reliable and affordable transportation remains essential to academic access, and students hope for timely solutions to improve daily campus mobility
